Monash MBA achieves further international recognition

The Monash Graduate School of Business' MBA program has been awarded international accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

The Monash MBA program is the third in Australia to be recognised by AMBA, which is the international quality advocate for the MBA. Monash joins over 100 other institutions from across more than 40 countries to hold AMBA accreditation for their MBA programs.

AMBA is an independent, international and program-specific assessment scheme, ensuring quality and continual development in post-graduate management education. The criteria for accreditation are seen as the international standard of excellence in MBA provision, and have been devised by the Association's International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB), comprised of deans, senior academics and business expertise from top business schools from around the world.

Dean, Professor Gill Palmer, said this is a fantastic endorsement for Monash's MBA program and builds on the faculty's achievement of EQUIS accreditation in 2005.

“This accreditation further attests the high-quality of our MBA program,” she said. “Monash has performed consistently in international MBA rankings, and this accreditation consolidates our position as a world-leader in the MBA market.”

Graduate School of Business director, Professor Julian Teicher, said that this accreditation will reinforce the GSB brand in the Australian and international market.

“Prospective students, graduates and employers now have a guarantee that our MBA program meets international quality standards for Masters level business education, and produces professional business leaders.”

AMBA commended Monash for the high overall quality of its MBA program.

MBA director, Associate Professor Peter Reed said: “We are thrilled that AMBA was particularly impressed by our leadership program for its contribution to the self-development of the students and our career development service.

“It has been a great team effort and I would like to thank the academic and administrative staff involved in the accreditation process for their contribution to this fabulous achievement.”

In 2005 the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Monash as the top MBA program in Australia, number two in Asia and Australasia, and sixth in the world in the category ‘ Personal development and educational experience ' – ahead of Yale, London and Chicago universities.
